Spruce?

Can you all help identify this tree? Western NC (Appalachian range/Ashe county). Thought it might be Norway spruce, but No cones on or anywhere near tree in early December and not super droopy. Maybe it’s just young still? About 40ft tall. Bark leans red but needles a bit too long to be red spruce. Needles 1inch- but they’re also flat.. so confused. Thanks!!

That would be my guess too, especially considering it looks like it was planted.

Also, you mentioned flat needles.

Norway spruce is "Picea abies" because it is a spruce (Picea) but it's needles are flat - like a fir tree (Abies).

I would also say Norway Spruce, everything about it looks like one to me, even if it’s not “weeping” as much as most.

My guess would be a black spruce, i dont think its a norway but I could be wrong.

I would go along with you on this. Black spruce is what I am thinking.
