sportjack?

who climbs on a sportjack?

Do you like it?

how about the positioner lanyard?

big price tag but eye to eyes add up. 15 will pay for the sportjack.

My understanding of the Lockjack/Sportjack/Spiderjack is that you need to replace the clutch regularly, in much the same way that most climbers will replace their climbing splittail each year. Seeing as how the clutch needs to be replaced periodically, costs more than a splittail (ie Beeline), and the Sportjack itself is so expensive in the first place, I find it hard to justify the purchase. I'll stick with my 8 mil Beeline - $30/year for a new one and I'm good to go.

if you buy one you'll love it. enough said. you get more than one year out of a clutch it depends on the way you use it. If your going to speed out of the tree with it all the time then ya you'll need to replace it sooner.

I would fully expect that anytime you replace a $30 component with a $400 component, it's going to be a tremendous improvement and you're going to "love it". That being said, I can't imagine being able to justify the expense, especially because of the clutch issue. If these Lockjack products were a one-time expense, then I can see myself looking into them more. But the fact that you regularly have to spend money for clutches, even if its only every 2 years, to me it just doesn't seem worth it. Would I love to have one? Hell yeah I would, I imagine they work amazingly well, and they should for the price. But I think they just seem hard to justify spending that kind of money. That's why I say I'll stick to my Beeline and just replace it every year for $30.

Dude you can find clutches for the price of your $30. So the one time investment high in price I guess. Maybe you should ask for a raise. I would like to think you get paid more then a truck driver? If not? Maybe time to look for a new company? Hell maybe think about just driving a truck?

Any ways back to the main, when you see how it tends itself the hitch system will go out the window.

I'm there with Holle. There are a couple of wear parts but how soon they need to be replaced is all in how you treat it. When I come out of the tree I use a belay device and leave the LJ wide open. Little or no wear there.

As for cost...you can find some good deals on the main unit out there if you are willing to look and be patient.

I love the self tending aspect and the fine running control. Still can and do use a hitch but the LJ is my bread and butter.

I tried the Sportjack. I couldn't dial in the clutch smoothly. It was either really slow or heart stopping drops.

However, I've been using the Uniscender and is very helpful. Worth every penny. I won't derail this thread to explain any further...

I like my 8mm Beeline, but I'm still strong enough to hold myself with one hand and pull the slack...

;)

that being said, if someone GAVE me one, I would sure use it...lol

why are you payying 30 dollars for hitches? A hitch shouldn't cost more than 5 maybe 10 dollars. tie your hitch right and it should self tend too. havent used a lockjack but cant see where the advantage is at.

I use variations of the vt wraps and twists. but I realize this is a thread that I have no business commenting on because I have never used a lock jack or a sport jack and until I do i should just keep my mouth shut.

After pushing a coiled up rope over an noter for for about 30 km a year i got a spiderjack and have been enjoying the smoothness of it.

Wear of the clutches is ok and over here in europe a new one is affordable. I was skeptical at first too about the cost. In practice i find it be be well worth the cost.
I started off using a 11mm line that did eat the clutches away a bit faster..

However recently i have been becoming more and more conscious of the possibility of accidentally tapping the release handle with my arm and opening up the device. It happens once in a while and it freaks me out!

As a result i have been eyeballing the unisender..But wow that toy is really costly..and needs to go back to shop i read it the other thread.

Don't want to derail this tread but would like some more views on the unisender in respect to the Art blockers.
