Splicing throwline or Why I stopped using my favorite line (Yale Longshot)

Yeah, but then you cant bury the tail, so it ends up looking like a knot with the bump anyway.

Tapering it is pretty easy, so I am going to try sewing it. @SeanRuel inspired the idea with his whipping comment.
Try doing a insane amount of Brummel and then just cut the tail off flush right where you want to grab for throwing.. likely less than ideal

Honestly I might do this just to post a picture. It is an insane amount of work for that though haha
 
You only need one end to do multiply locked brummels if using the McDonald method, five to seven locked brummels have been tested to being as strong as a bury splice.
 
I've got spliced eyes on all my throwlines. Pretty sure they're all double brummels with a decent length of buried tail. Love 'em. It gave me something productive to do when I was laid up and ran out of ways to do slings and lanyards!
