4000 e2e splices??? im calling bullshit on that figure......

Approximately 3.6529680365296803653 prussiks per day? Six splices on small cord? That does seem a bit much.

?? I can make 20>30 per day, I have different methods to those out there, I would sell the idea for $30,000 :)

A morning's work....

re: Tree Access

Thank you for a positive and learned approach.

Indeed the kn rating for these applications is low.

I have emailed the university a slightly different setup for testing to show on this thread....still waiting for a reply.

20 to 30 a day for a dedicated day of splicing doesn't seem that unusual.

Today I have the proof.

The pictures below show an 8mm marlow viper eye2eye at 700mm, the rig was tensioned at 7kn, then a force of 200kn applied at 5mm per second.

The rope gave at 21.2kn.

There was no movement in the spliced eyes.

Did you do a straight pull test on the e2e as well?

[/ QUOTE ]

I was waiting for that reply, The machine was limited to the length of around 600mm, so a straight pull could not be achieved.

That said, I have never seen a test done like this, so with regards to use in work, it shows exactly how it would perform.

How often is a prusik used straight in a work scenario?

Yeah, I was waiting for that reply too! :)
I am asking because of the 15 diameter fid lenght thing.
Really cool would be to splice the same stuff with different fid definitions and then compare them in breaking strength.
Btw, whats the mbs of the cordage you use?

I bet you where waiting for that reply as well! :)

My numbers are based on mm, no fids are mentioned, but at this point I have to add that tapers are important, And that has taken a long time to gain the correct amount in my view.

The cordage is rated at 12kn as per Marlows Website, but that might be a mistake. I am in the process of contacting them because there where differing kn ratings over the last few years.
