I played around with a SJ3, and found that it really did not work well when run over a natural crotch, and/or when you got close to your tie in point and the two legs or rope grew further apart as they entered the device.

Anyone with experience with the SJ2.1 know if it has the same problem?

There was another thread with comments on this topic recently - I don’t remember which thread. It was determined that the SpiderJack does not do well when it is too close to a large limb or around a spar. The manual actually prohibits such use, if you read your manual.

no issues with sj3 with it in lock on stems or natural crotching. prefer it over sj2. need to manually tail the rope ahead of the pulley is all
