I work in a lake market, so I thought I needed a spider lift. But after demoing
several of them I decided to go with the Nifty lift SD64. The 2 big selling points for me was the ground speed and the 500 lb unrestricted 42' side reach. And having used it for a couple of months, I am finding that there is very few jobs where I can't get my lift within 40 ft of the tree. There are times we have wished for longer outriggers for setting up on steeper slopes, but if you step back and look at it even the 12% slope that we can set up on looks steep with a lift sitting on the side of it!

I have the easy lift 70-36 and have been meaning to write a detailed long term review with pictures and all that jazz. So far I have been happy with it other than a few annoyances mainly the owners/service manual is about as useful as toilet paper.
If anybody wants to pick my brain about it send me a PM.

Yeah numbers are total bs but you get the point, lol. I'm in a rual area just outside of a large urban area. I mostly service suburban areas and larger estates. It's not real often I ever deal with a fence. I love to climb too, but I like making money and not being sore even more!

One of the main reasons we purchased the Platform Basket and Omme 2750 was because of this situation. Have not climbed a tree in 3 years, never come home tired anymore what alone dirty. Tree work is so much easier with a lift.

my 2 cents

Talking to Tree companys all around the country about my grapples and loaders, conversation often diverts to lifts. Omme is the one I have heard has the best overall reviews from some major company's that researched more than 1 Manufacturer. Butt how could you not like ~50' of side reach on the big Dog 90 footer . spendy but so is a great climber over 4 years

When I had my Tree company years back it was my dream lift

Who did you buy from?

Hey Devo! Do recall what the minor issues were , how were they dealt with? Thanks for your time or not ;)
They don't like the cold, anything under -5 takes a long time to warm up the hydraulics, I so t run mine when it's colder then that. Had one basket sensor get stuck for a day, the crazy beeper wouldn't go off, turned out to be an easy so fix after we actually had time to look at it, stuck spring due to a sudden freeze up in temps.

Has anyone checked out some of the lifts made by some of the larger companies in the aerial lift world? Like altec and jlg?

Just starting my research into possibly acquiring a lift to accompany my bucket trucks.

What I remember is the JLG's spider was interesting spec wise, but the price was disproportionally huge.

Altec has a spiderish lift that was huge in stature and price.

We have been using this for the last 2 years, great machine, couple of pieces of plyboard for turns, great customer service and yearly inspections.

If you're deciding between the wheel lifts like the Nifty or the tracked spider lift you have to look carefully at your work load and determine what percentage of the work the spider will really help you. There are major trade offs between all the different lift types, it really depends on your area.

I've run the Omme 2750 and it's a great machine. It's also a large machine. We have a Italmec (no longer in business) and it reaches 68ft. and 38ft horizontal. Not even close to the Omme but the narrowness, height, outrigger spread, and weight of the machine make up for the loss in reach in my opinion, and after running the Omme I decided the additional reach wasn't worth it (not because of price, but because of our particular work areas).

If you have a lot of open space and you don't need to go through small gates and pathways then the nifty would be my choice. If you have extremely tight access like urban Honolulu, I would buy the Platform 72Ft. arborist lift. That's after a lot of research and trying out many different machines. but to each their own, j

I've tried the Tracked lift, the ez lift, and the omne. The Omne was by far the best, and most sturdy. The Ez lift kept throwing itself off balance on a level asphalt parking lot and would just shutdown completely, i was very unimpressed. The Tracked lift was also very nice. Omne is #1 in my book with tracked lift at a close second. I just didn't like how when the tracked lift was telescoped all the way out and fully extended you could see the hydraulic cylinder has a curve to it which looked sketchy.

Some of these companies making these lifts seem to be very small. It makes me wonder where they will be in 10 years from now.

I have a friend that owns one of the first jlg lifts ever made. When he called them up with a question they were able to provide him with all info on that machine.

I spoke to altec last week, they have a demo in my area right now I might take a look at. The size and weight of the machine is a big turnoff, not to mention the price. Need a cdl class a to tow it around.

If you don't have to have narrow access or dielectric, David, you would do well to check out Nifty Lift SD64, and Nifty has been around over 30 years!

Seeing the videos you have posted and looking at all the specs on the nifty lift I defenitly find it to be rather impressive. I think that getting in to tight areas would be the main reason I would invest in a lift.

Dielectric is not something I need as I am allergic to power lines and do everything I can to stay away from them.

It was the news update from one company celebrating their doubling of their space, to 7000 sq ft, that made me think they are not far enough along as a company for me to depend on them for a 100k plus purchase. They seem to have a good product and a good reputation, but good companies fail everyday. It is very hard to be David vs Goliath. I want to know that someone will be there to back me up on my machine in 5 years.

Where did you try the Easy Lift near Tawas? Who showed it to you?
