Some kind of Prunus?

This tree is in one of our Providence parks. I have not been able to ID it, nor have any of the other arborists I've asked. Flowers look like a cross between P. serotina and Pussy Willow. Bark is smooth and gray with some fissured areas. I have not seen any fruit on the tree or on the ground, it may be a sterile clone or a male. I am pretty sure it is in the Genus Prunus, but beyond that I don't know this tree. Anyone have ideas?

Sylvia, the flower is very puffy like a pussy willow, so I don't think that's it, as the padus flower looks 'petaly.' Then again, if there are lots of cultivars, maybe it's one of them. The fruit or seed head must be left behind on the panicle, and I just haven't noticed it. I'll take another look to see if there's some dried seeds left.

Stephanie, it looks like it does (I zoomed in on the picture of the leaves), although one looks like it has four... Just looked that up, and found that this is not uncommon for Prunus.

Nice call and a good rule of thumb for assisting id. But remember the variations of nature...some species are "glandular", some have 1 to 2, some have 2 to 4....

I didn't realize that some species have more than one pair of glands, interesting. I'll have to look more into that.
