Define 'old'...

I messed around with systems like this years ago. A friend showed me something about like this 20 or so years ago. This is back in the day when learning was done face to face, hand in hand. Not like now where ideas and techniques are shared instantly via clicks and keyboards. There's good in both.

I'll try and explain, just wrap 3 wraps around the branch and pass the bite though the carabiner, that creates a 2:1 advantage or a friction advantage, the bite loop can be placed over a stub, pulley or carabiner,

It looks like 3:1 advantage.

You could create anything for an advantage, for friction it's an easy twist loop over the stub.

I think the video roping was far to complicated, my thinking is just on smallish tree work, when profits are low, and need care for obstacles etc.
