Snap hook safety warning from ISA

it doesn't sound like they are disallowing any of them in particular, just the head judge's discretion.

I like the red or blue snaps that you can't find anymore with no manufacturer information.

where can i find that one on the left? it looks sick.
but i totatly agree with those being unsafe, i have changed to a karabiner because the gate of the kong snap hook opened whilst i was hanging from it.

I use the other two snaps not the one on the left though. I love them and they do open and close easy and they're light weight. That's what I love about them. I know a lot of guys going to the biners.

Iuse the far right one or something very nearly like it.Mine has unexpectedly opened afew times,I think because the locking lever (?)on the back side has a lot of surface to come in contact w/anything,trip that and "Open Sesame"But I love it,light, quick, comfy to my big paw.But what of the shape of the frame?Iused biners for years and switched and never noticed a diff. in shape between them for better or worse. But would like one w/a smaller l.l.,and a keyhole catch between the gate and frame. I just keep an eye on it.It's better to squeeze than twist.Just my opinion.

It sounds like this warning is based strictly on discussion, not an incident... that bugs me. Not that I want someone to get hurt before a safety warning is issued... but this smacks of a bunch of people without enough to do trying to justify a paycheck... or maybe selling more locking biners.

I know people that were trained to always use a snap with the gate facing out... I'm not sure why. But anyway, that's a recipe for accidentally opening an advanced (biner style) snap.

I like the ISC snap BECAUSE it is easy to open.

i had one come open on me in a tree, i didnt go for a ride it just scared the piss out of me because that was the only thing connecting me to the tree at the time. Thats why i dont use them.

I've been told in a climbing school to use a snap hook for my lanyard rather than a biner. Especially they didn't like twist-lock biners.

Will see if I can upload a picture
