I keep a couple of Gators on my harness all of the time. They're in my climbing system too because they're small and I like the design.

Gators. THAT'S the item I was thinking of. My only beef is the short distance from the "top" of the gate to the apex. If your eye splice, for example, is captured there, it's a bit beefy and may lend itself to performing one of the functions required to open it. The sliding function. Anyone? Maybe this is reduced when using a smaller diameter line.

Luke did some comparisons and found the DMM Sentinel to be the shortest wiht their Shadow as next. ISC mini is a close second to to the Sentinel.
