Well now I have to hope that my 7 year old does not want to out do her in the walnuts in our yard. This article was great for the people to get their minds off the everyday life and look up.To me this was a little girl haveing an adventure, and one that will be with her, her whole life. Not to mention the confidence builder in the just do it slogan.
My kids will enjoy trees. They will safely be able to climb all sorts of trees with my aid. I wish I had gear to climb a 60' tree when I was young. Can you imagine kids in a school yard comparing athletics? One kid says, "I scored a goal last Saturday." The other says, "I climed a 75' Cottonwood with my dad. I was 50' in the air looking down at the soccar field." /forum/images/graemlins/avid.gif
I used to love climbing trees and watch people below. They would never know I was there. Sometimes i would only be 15 feet off the ground in a crab apple but people would never look up.
The bay trees in the canyons behind my parents house, I could feel my childhood adrenaline rush from the wind. haven't thought about that in years...
that was a great article. How rare to find someone that would not chastize the parents for not watching their kid or something along those lines. Thanks for sharing that one. It made my day.
It reminded me Of A time I lived in florida, I dont know they name of the tree I used to climb but its one of those ones that had the long vertical vines that eventually became roots, and the white sticky sap. I used to sit in that thing all day, and jump form leader to leader when I got bored.
