Signs of sanity in Germany and the EU?

I was @ a landscape supply place the other day, and they were selling various neonicotinoids over the counter for EAB. I asked, "So, you just sell this stuff to anybody? Don't they have to have a pesticide applicators license to even buy this, much less apply it?" Scary That term is abhorrent

It makes me wonder why US politicians have decided not to do the same until some indefinite point 5 years or so from now?

Because big chemical companies donate to their re-election campaigns. Its like all the other crap that goes in in that outhouse (aka congress) its all about money. Always has been always will be.

Europe's also light years ahead and much more responsible towards public health in regards to to import restrictions on all genetically-modified (GM) foodstuff or seed stocks. Here industry (Monsanto's been in the forefront) is fighting to keep even the labeling of our foods off-limits to any mention of GM - fearing public perception of modified and un-tested compounds. No long-term health studies have ever been done to what's now 80% of our food stocks.

It's not just about money - it's about greed that's been flourishing under the American way and rights-to-profit have won over the right to health and survivability..for generations to come.

My cancer (lymphoma, which I beat) was the same cancer that eventually killed-off every single one of my either military unit or later in the National Forests under timber management and silviculture - all while being denied by Monsanto and Dow and the feds. We're talking a few dozen from a cancer that only used to occur in 1 out of 15,000 people...now 1 out of 20. Court actions proved the companies lied, the feds lied, and it continues unabated and even supported by people who think free enterprise should include zero regulations on the industries that repeatedly show they can not be - or ever - admit responsibility.

A terrible irony in my case was I survived a terminal stage-4 blood cancer because of cutting-edge treatments, but those very treatments 20 years ago - killed my heart ventricle that's killing me today - if I never went near the chemicals (who we were told were "safe enough to drink") I wouldn't be dying now - although I'm more than grateful for the life I had, the kids growing-up shouldn't be exposed to what amounts to premeditated murder by the evil and lying boardrooms of our Fortune 500.

Oakwilt,
My heart goes out to you. Having spent time as a hospice nurse and witnessing the pain and loss of so many in your situation I am dumbfounded by the lack of will to shove aside 'corporate' interests in the interest of public health.
A friend died recently of cancer related to the aerial spraying across Viet Nam. There is no getting that lost potential back. He was a creative artist, painting surreal landscapes and had a band and payed music with many others. Ironically his band was named, "Due-mayami" (phonetically, not sure how it is spelled in Vietnamese) - he only told me once that it meant F-U... in the end that is what it did to him... sad.
