Shuttle trumps trees

It's part of a project to allow the shuttle to be driven to its final destination. It also includes raising power lines, and removing traffic lights at intersections to facilitate street access. I believe trees are being replanted 2 for every removal.

If they're careful about site evaluation and species selection when they replant, maybe they won't have to eliminate so many trees, the next time they want to drive a space shuttle through town.

I'm all for saving stuff that has historical importance but that's a monumental waste of resources on all fronts. Right now some politician is probably blasting off about how this is creating jobs.
