Show us your harness

I have been trying to come up with a solution, but haven't worked it out entirely.

What do you guys think of this?

In the video I don't have the saw on a lanyard, but I always have a lanyard on my saw when climbing... so I don't even use the mini biner to lock it and it stays in just the same.
Also, this is just stuff I had around the shop, I don't necessarily think starter cord is the best thing to hang your saw from. I can one hand this on and off all day!

That's pretty slick. I'd try that out for sure. Well done!

That's slick Rick right there. I like it. Have you tried hanging sideways or moving around a bit with it yet?

I think it's pretty slick. It looks like you could integrate it into a lanyard pretty easily. Those drayer lanyards would complement it perfectly.

I like that a lot! I'm still really grooving on my current setup for top handle saws, but that's the ticket for larger ones right there. Awesome, John!

I like it! I've used these for years (see pics) for carrying battery tools up ladders, into trees, towers, etc. and they work well, but no way to secure the tool to the belt clip/holder part. These things won't hold the weight of a chainsaw if it gets bounced around, but I always liked the idea of a heavier-duty version.

Yeah wow, I've never seen those before. I really like how the ball works compared to a ring it just drops right in.

Yes, it stays in well. With the carabiner lock it definitely will, but without it the saw stays put unless you flip upside down. I have had a branch lift the saw/ball up and out as the saw sat its weight on the branch (you know what I mean), but if you are moving around the tree it it easily secured with the mini biner.

Do you clip your saw sideways onto your harness?
Yeah, if only this lifted the teeth away from my expensive climbing pants. I guess you could move the ball to the upper handle so the saw hangs horizontally.

I'm still playing with this idea, but it is nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks it's cool.

Oh, you're cool alright. Probably enough to even spell it 'kooool'. :)

When I'm navigating a prune, all too many time I have to cross branches in wanting to save (can't make convenience cuts). When my top handle hangs sideways, I often don't even have to touch it to get through dense areas, but when I do, it's just reorienting its angle and not lifting up and over.

To me, it's not just the pants either...it's the climb line and the tree, AND more favorable to the saw scabbard staying on. Pretty much never fly without it now.

I love your concept though. It might be interesting to attach your invention to the saw in different locations to COG, just to see how things hang, or to facilitate stowing.

Damn John! I have said it before and ill say it again... your very clever.

Loving the new ideas here.

I use a caritool. I clip the little metal clip piece on the saw right to the caritool, muffler side to my leg. To unclip, pick saw up and twist it and it pops right off. I imagine you can do the same motion with a paddle biner

I don't have a caritool to try but wonder how you keep the metal clip piece (on a stihl saw) from wanting to close any time pressure is put on it from the wrong side?

Just using what I've got - I've changed the orientation of this ct micro biner from this (beneath a clipped in ISC Double Action Snap Hook)... - not the best - still need second hand to stow...

To this (works great on ground - yet to see in tree). Keeps it stuck out more, and to the side, so when pulling back saw after cut, seems to be right above shembiner for placement. One handed on and off. Can retrieve saw without looking, still have to use quick look to stow.

It's the weekend now though, so I don't care any more.

Thanks N.e. Tree - no I completely understand the principal of twisting something out of a non-locking biner - it's just I wonder how you can do it with such a small (and folding!) clip on the back of a stihl? I don't have a stationary non locker/caritool carabiner on my belt to try it out, that's all.

It is pretty small so that makes it a little tricky. The clip on the saw is stiff and doesn't close easily so I haven't had an issue with that I can recall. A little bit of practice and it gets to be easier to do. You'll find that sometimes the caritool bends a little and you end up popping the gate to the outside but no big deal,it goes back in.

Here is mine

I've seen a couple of people using a swivel and two rings on their bridge. Why? What are you using the rings for?
