Show off them splices

No that makes total sense, rope runner and hitch hiker = hybrid [emoji106]

Actually it is more like ascender + descender = "hybrid". But I am fine with using the term "multiscender" if that is the most common term that people are using.

I was confused by the multi part of the term. They only go up and down, which I don't consider as multiple. Bi-scender or duoscender would seem to be better descriptive words. Who originated the term multiscender?

Does anyone else use "hybrid" to describe a friction device like HH2 or RW which split friction mgmt between mechanical means and prussik? That's how I use it

First attempt at ultrasling and a way too short, way too tight of eyes ocean hitch cord.

A tip for anyone splicing ocean; I struggled forever trying to bury the core down through the throat until I had a bright idea. I pulled it back out and put a taper on the last 3 or 4 inches. The thing just slid through with moderate effort after that.

Hey just got some splices broken. Was really dissapointed by the tachyon results. It was used rope (used it as a lanyard for a winter season), but was still expecting to be much higher than ~55% of MBS. Prolly gonna bug me so much I'm gonna do another one to break lol

Thanks for posting your pictures and graphs, interesting results. On the tested tachyon does it appear that the break was where the core bury ended? At first I thought the whipstitch caused it but it looks about where the core should end.
On the Ocean Polyester, I wonder if the extreme tightness of the eye caused the breakage at the eye.
Please post the results of your latest splices, whatever the outcome.

Yea it does appear to be right around where the core ends. I didn't ask for the splices back so I can't be for sure. Also, I just did a couple lockstitchs on the end that broke instead of a full whiplock cause I got lazy, but it appears to have broke before the stitches. I'll be real interested to see the results of my new splices because they are spliced "exactly" (barring human error) the same, just with new rope

The ocean eyes were sooooo tight you could barely fit a carabiner through them with a lot of effort (and I still don't think they were completely buried) I'd also guess that's why they broke when they did.
