Looks way better than my Velocity splice.

WTF? What happened? Are you guys serious, were these really serious splicing attempts, or trashed sections of great ropes? I'm almost speechless, at the debri piles! What happened?

Serious. I can't see well enough to tell the difference between the white core and white cover strands to be able to pull the core out.

This is a splice that I did in Pittsburg, after day#1 of ArbTrek.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1448496917.507957.webpImageUploadedByTapatalk1448496953.374832.webp
Just needs the blind stitching, whipping, & heat shrink! Then have to put the BOLA on, then finish the other end!
Love Splicing so much! Sense of being able to do what most can't seem to master. But a bit humbling!

That's exactly what I was trying to do...splice Velocity onto an ISC swivel snap. Can't spread the cover wide enough to pick the core out undamaged.

Thanks, but I want to do it, even if it takes a hundred feet of it in the process. What's the trick to get the cover strands to spread more than a few millimeters?

Pull some core out of the end of the rope, being sure to tape the core end, then use a marlin spike to push/pull adjoining strands apart. Being aware of not splitting individual strands. Then pull core out. Make sure to milk & zero out the core/sheath. Hope this makes it easier!
