Shopping Spree!

I was just talking to my credit card company. Seems they called to question my spending. They asked for my account, so I went into my wallet and where the hell...? Seems I lost my card yesterday and someone decided that the right thing to do would be to run it up. I feel like the people on those comercials suffering from identity fraud. What a loser! /forum/images/graemlins/lewser.gif /forum/images/graemlins/owned.gif /forum/images/graemlins/lildevil.gif

Wow, no way! /forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Those companies are getting pretty good at seeing red flags go up. Nice they noticed it.

It would even be nicer if the company honors all obligations of it's policy regarding stolen cards and charges.

Even nicer than that would be they offer a Barefoot Windjammer Cruise for your inconvenience and worry.

Never mind, I finished early and decided to drink beer after lunch. Good luck with it all. Burp. Ahhhh.

I got a call a couple years ago from the credit card co. about 9 at night. I had bought my wifes engagement ring at lunch and had a set of tires put on my car at the end of the day, that was enough for mastercard to get worried I guess. I wasnt unhappy to get the call at all, I was surprised in fact.

These companies are pretty slick if you ask me. I mean, I travel every month. I swipe that card all over the globe. A couple of tickets to Italy ($3,000.00) and plenty of goods there , but no red flag. Someone starts to buy gas in town and then goes to Walmart and sopends $400 and their calling me. Go figure. It seems that they only spent about $500 or so. I am disappointed, no big screen plasma even though it's Superbowl weekend? Tisk tisk! /forum/images/graemlins/9lame.gif

Mark, send your visa here, I will go for the big screen first thing, just to make you happy, after that, cheap stuff like new climbing saddle, Stihl saws, spurs, ropes, I tell ya no flags raised on your card around here! ;)

A while back someone stole my credit card...

I never reported it because they spent less than my wife.

Mark-

Love the credit cards, put everything on them. As long as it is caught within 30 days of purchase you are not responsible. My brother-in-law used to work for a credit card division and said the formulas they use and number of people to catch fraud are incredible. He also said that the gas thing is a big red flag.

When someone steals your card they go somewhere that they can use it without interaction with another person(gas station). If it is denied they toss it, but if it isn't then it is off to the races (Walmart). He said that they will keep doing the same pattern, most times, day after day until the card is denied.

Next time I take your card I will fill the truck with deisel, buy tickets to the next TCIA or climbing championship, and then get a whole lot of tree toys. Oh Yeah a plasma screen with some safety videos from ISA & TCIA to not raise any red flags.

You probably never go to Walmart and you never charge less than a hundred. They went to Walmart and charged 10 bucks or the size 20 ladies underware threw up a red flag.

I'd still try for that Windjammer Barefoot Cruise though, and today I haven't had any beer.

That's funny.

When I spoke to a rep at the credit co, they said that there are lot's of flags. One easy one is noticing a small purchase where there is no human interaction (like gas station). There they test the card to see if it gets denied. If it works, they go shopping. Then they test again somewhere else. If it's cleared they go shopping again. And so on...
