Hey folks- We've been working on this for a long time, and our team is psyched to finally kick it off. Hopefully you never need a grant from this fund, but our plan is that it will be there for you and your family if you do. Come see us at the show and grab a shirt.

Thanks, Tripp

GREENSBORO, NC - Sherrill, Inc. announces the formation of the Fallen Families Fund, a charity dedicated to providing direct financial assistance to families and individuals who have been impacted by death or injury associated with tree care and working at height.

There are more than 100 reported tree care and work at height related fatalities, plus many hundreds of industry related injuries annually. This makes tree care and work at height statistically two of the most dangerous industries in the United States.

The objective of the Fallen Families Fund is to help reduce the financial burden of a work-related injury or death by providing grants that will help the individual or family endure their healing or recovery immediately following an accident on the job.

The Fallen Families Fund will work to build an endowment that will serve these affected families and it will provide cash donations to offset financial hardships. Tripp Wyckoff, CEO of Sherrill, Inc., believes giving back to the community is an essential part of the company. "I've supported the idea of the Fallen Families Fund from the beginning. There is an obvious need in the industry, and it was immediately clear that this is our opportunity to help the families and individuals that our business relies on. Now that Sherrilltree.com and TreeStuff.com are under one umbrella we can finally make the Fallen Families Fund a reality.”

Sherrill Inc. will be assuming the administrative costs of the fund, meaning that 100% of all donations raised or received will directly benefit families in need. Starting this month, the company and its subsidiaries will support the fund by organizing fundraising events and promotions, it will solicit voluntary donations from customers at each of its web stores, and Sherrill Inc. will provide a substantial annual monetary donation.

Sherrill Inc. will kick off the fundraising efforts with a Fallen Families Fund t-shirt to be sold in both the SHERRILLtree.com and TreeStuff.com booths at the TCI Expo in Columbus, OH. 100% of the proceeds from these shirt sales will go directly to the Fallen Families Fund.

Well said Tripp. This is so awesome and something I'm really proud to be a part of. Clearly the best part of our brands coming together from my perspective.

Luke and I had always talked about doing something to give back, not just to the average arborist with stickers and freebies, but to the people who really need help. We had big dreams and high hopes, but we didn't have the bandwidth, the people power, or the finances to make something like this happen. I know Sean, Sam, Mitch, Brandon and the team at Sherrill recognized that a lot of families were left in a bad spot when tragedy struck and also felt compelled to make a difference. I'm so excited to see what we can all accomplish together!

Thank you for putting the resources behind this to turn it into reality.

You know, some volunteer work days, similar to Saluting Branches, could be a great fund raiser here. I would imagen there would be no shortage of folks singing up. Work the publicity around things like ISA comps and Jambo and people will show up in droves, probably with enough equipment to start a rental company.

Hell yeah. Our very small local log show does this for fallen workers, a larger pool and audience hopefully will be able to provide more support! One question is what is the vetting process? Landscapers? Loggers? Residential/commercial? Just curious how this is addressed.

Should Not cover the hacks or fly by nighters, landscrapers, as they drag our industry down and don’t support anything. They make us pay in the long run, workers comp, insurance etc..

Tripp, Nick and co., this is a great idea and sorely needed. There is not enough done on an industry wide level to address the very onerous financial and emotional burden injury and fatality place on the family.

I shared with Tom some ideas of how the name can be pushed out into the wider community and gain exposure to those who utilize arboricultural services. I feel it will help them to better understand the implications of hiring those who are cavalier in their attitudes toward safety and to see that we are a much more than a tree trimmer or cutter, that below that person swinging in their trees or feeding that chipper is a family that rely on them to come home in one piece every night.

If there's any way I can help please let me know.

We raised around ~$6000 for Fallen Families at TCIA, thanks to everyone that bought shirts or donated at the TreeStuff and Sherrill Tree booths, and everyone that bought raffle tickets at the Boostfest After Party we had with the Arbor Plus team.

Thanks also to the vendors that gave us merch to raffle off when we hit them up at their booths!

We are off to a good start!

Exact opposite of what is needed .
What is wrong with you people.
Clearly the most dishonest thing Sherrill has ever done. HIYA
They say they are donating their time and money to raise money for those in dire need...you are saying that is the exact opposite of what is needed. Am I misunderstanding your comment? Is your comment in reference to something else?
