Shade tree recommendation

I would like a recommendation for a shade tree in Minnesota, Minneapolis area. Any recommendations would be appreciated and the reason for the recommendation would be really helpful.

What part of the metro? We have native butternut on the west side of the cities but have never seen a planted one. Ill start off by saying no spruce and no maples!

Kentucky coffee tree. Fruitless if youhave dogs.

Honey locust. Over planted but...
Single stem river birch. Tend to be chlorotic depending on location.
Red oak.if you are not in south or north metro and or isolated.

Big and tree like! With long branches and leaves all over it. Does well with dog piss and ring around the posie!

Cottonwood? Black or Tulip poplar they get shady! especially when planted in large stands near a septic field!

seriously though... English Walnut, Catalpa.. if you don't mind long seed pods everywhere? Really pretty tree though.

We should clarify the space first. How big is the rooting area? Is there space for a large crown (ie powerlines, structures etc...)? What’s the soil like? What’s the drainage like? How much sun? What is currently there? What goals are you trying to meet? Plus many other questions that need answers before a baby tree is brought into your world.

But a few of my favorite large trees are:
Sugar maple - just a nice tree
White oak - slow growing but worth the wait
Katsura - no fuss, no mess (medium to large at maturity)
Sycamore/London Plane -
