Schwabisch set up?

Need some suggestions guys.

Been using the Schwabisch on a wire core flipline for a few years now, but there has always been one niggling little problem I've never got round to fixing.

As you can see I place the slack tender offset to the side which I find allows for better breakage of the hitch and easier advancment of the hitch to get closer to the tree.

The problem is that the green keyring biner sometimes works its way backwards so when I go the advance the hitch without looking - the whole set up whips round inverting on itself and jams up.

How can I keep the keyring biner static tucked in beside the right scaffold?

I dont want to put the keyring biner inside the scaffold loop or in between the 2 scaffolds.

Is there a better option than that the keyring biner?

Thanks guys

Capture the right-hand scaffold end between the plates of the pulley. Attach the pulley directly to the Petzl 'biner. There's got to be a picture here somewhere... Unless you really don't want it on the 'biner.

Not really sure what you mean, like this?

Try using a distel instead, that way the scaffold legs exit the hitch on opposite sides. Then do away with the fixed plate pulley and get one with swiveling cheeks, then put the pulley directly on the biner between the scaffolds.

I like the distel, but not on a wire core flipline, when its loaded it looks like this - which doesn't look good at all, I dislike the way the bottom wrap feeds away from the other coils.

For me, the Schwabisch works better on a wire core flipline, I just need some way of keeping the keyring biner snug beside the right scaffold or an alternative to the keyring biner.

That's it. Or, like tophopper said, use a swing plate pulley and place it between the scaffolds... Schwabich, Distal, Vt, doesn't really matter. Whatever you like.

Oh... I prefer an HMS biner for that application.

If you shortened the tres legs the distel wouldn't look like that when loaded. It would look like the pic I attached.

You could possibly switch the keychain biner to a brass snap (dog leash style) which has a small captive eye, then trap the snap between the scaffold leg on the right and a piece of rubber (Blue bandit)

You might also consider something other than 1/2" line for the tres cord.

Its not 1/2" but I get what your saying, my hands are like shovels so using that skinny cord you guys use is difficult for me.

It wont work for the Schwabisch as it's asymetrical, so the fixe twists awkwardly against the wire core when you try to advance the hitch. It'll only for work for symetrical hitches - VT Distel etc

Try this- as I described above

in order to use the dog leash snap, you'll need to switch to a pulley with swing cheeks, so it'll fit in the snap

Why not try a corner trap?

Run it between the second scaffold and on that outside of your green keychain biner.

Here's a picture, of a corner trap. Simple inexpensive and you don't have to change up your setup.

Also linked is a description from the sherrill site.

Also they have leather and plastic ones.

Thanks guys, this seems the best suggestion so far, tophopper, dont listen to them, thats an awesome rug. I bet their houses are all neutral beige, just like their personalities.
