Sawpod???

...your hip on average is always closer than your knee?!? True?

Yep, hips are always closer, but with a leg scabbard, you always KNOW where the scabbard is. When I have my saw hanging from my side, it flops around. It's always closer, but not always more accessible.

Nicks right, the hip is closer than the leg BUT and it' a BIG BUT!! Your average saw is 300mm long, about the length of a thigh! Therefore you have to draw the saw back this distance to get the tip of the saw in the scabbard, which means bending your arm/elbow way behind you, whereas on your calf it is point and shoot and it's safely in the scabbard!
We've heard of "saw spuds" or "sore plums" but not "saw pods"...try it, you won't regret it!

Just thought I'd mention I was using it all day pollarding a lime the other day - you know the type; spending an hour handsawing a way up it, then in and out of the scabbard with the handsaw constantly dealing with all that frith (zen approach required).

It made it a lot easier. Its a pain in the arse if dealing with some brush/lines on the ground without taking it off though (branches/lines constantly catch on the handle).

I suppose having a second scabbard on the hip is an option - put the saw where you need it?
