saddle

thinking about upgrading my saddle to an ergovation. does anybody climb in that saddle ? and if so how do you like it ?

I climb in am ergo. Very comfortable (haven't been in other top shelf belts to compare to), totally adjustable, plenty of room for gear. You can sit in it for a while and it moves well when your free climbing thru a canopy.
All that said there are other very comfy well outfitted saddles that are lighter and slimmer. If light and slim are key features, maybe look into some other top shelf belts

What are you currently using?

I'm a TM guy myself, but a good friend has the ergo and likes it. The reason I ask is the ergo is known for its bulky padding. My friend is an army vet with a few "bumps and bruises", so the padding is a plus. I like slim, so the TM works better for me.

Don't have either but if your carrying a large saw all day ergo is the Top quality saddle designed for it. If your looking for the best of both worlds as far as pruning and removals go tree motion will deliver. This is all coming from reviews and info from threads on this site

Yeah there are some really great deals today, but I wasn't trying to push you. You really should make a good decision on which saddle would be best for you. There are a lot of good options. I climb in a Treemotion and love it, but as others have said they prefer others, so you have to figure out which you'd prefer from the list of really exceptional saddles.

all great info thank you. i currently climb in a buckingham 2 floating dee saddle its good but tends to sag down with a big saw and padding isn't that great. i do about half removals half pruning. i liked the way the erg ovation looks with the thick padding but would also like to hear what you guys are using and works for you

The Ergo is HUGE and despite all it's padding, I still found the TM to be more comfortable. Such a hard purchase to make, it's a lot of cash and you typically cannot try before you buy.

Also I found the Velcro waist strap to be pretty hot in the summer.

I think you are the first person I've "met" that has used both. Thanks for the perspective. Btw, stihl, you can make suspenders if you feel crafty like that. I used a ring, rated belt buckle, clevis, and branch saver to keep the moon from rising midday.

i used to use carpenter belt suspenders on my first saddle but outgrew that one so got the one i use now. how do you guys like the tree motion and how does it handle a 70 cc saw or bigger hanging off it?

I really like the customization you can do with the TM. As for movement, I've not really climbed in anything else for a few years, so I couldn't say, except that it's worlds better than the steel d and sewn loop saddles I used before.

I upgraded from a Weaver Floating D to a TreeMotion. I'm pretty sure anything would feel awesome after that, but I really do like the TM. It moves with your movement and can be adjusted in every way...maybe too many adjustments. - You also have endless options with positioning gear. Very comfortable and great for work positioning. The lower Dees are excellent, but those are not exclusive to the TM.
It would be great if you could try different saddles on and get them fitted to you to see which you would prefer, but honestly I don't think you can go wrong with a TreeMotion. It might not be the best for you, but it certainly wouldn't be the worst...;) I think that could probably be said about any of the top of the line harnesses. You will get a quality harness with any of them.

A lot of it has to do with physique of the climber, so one saddle can be perfect for one climber and not for another. It is a hard decision to make.
