Its the worst. That's all I know really.
Internet search doesn't come up with much more than that.
Harness with steel sounds a stupid thing to do. but its being done.
Check it out!:wtf:

???

I've had climbing gear made of
Steel for decades and never had a rust problem. Occasionally a biner that wasn't used for a while might have gotten a small bit of rust. Either by use or a little wire brush action combined with Aero Kroil or some such and they're good to go

Never had plated rings or buckles rust either

My Buck 4D saddle is a bit over 10 maybe even 15yrs old. No rust on the buckle or the zinc plated Ds. Does your saddles see a lot of early spring use? Thinking maybe got wet with road salt? Stuff sprays pretty high when the plow trucks scream through. Just a thought.

Rarel work rd side. Wash my gear weekly in the summer. Stink needs to be washed out. Here is a couple pics. Plus a pic os the original bridge showing glue and fold over and lock stich. Note new bridge I added an internal double back rather than an external double back pic w blue tape

Ok, I've been thinking to ask this question -- washing my saddle. How do you guys do this without getting all the metal parts to start rusting? I've got a weaver cougar saddle that I bought a year ago and the sweat last summer caused some rust on the gear D rings & clips. I left it too damp in the bag & realized it too late.

But my bigger question is how do I wash the fabric parts of the waistband & leg straps? Do I take the saddle apart? That's LOTS of work based on removing one side of the bridge to mount a strap. How do you guys do this to keep the 'funk' at bay. I only climb part time right now so it's not been a full summer of sweat in the thing.

If this would be better as its own thread, I'll start a new one.

I had to gut and rebuild my ergovation because of pitting on the aluminum buckles from sweat. Called the manufacturer and the said to wash it daily. Kinda nuts if you ask me. I never wash my saddle. At the end of the day it rides open in the back of the pickup for my hour commute home. Pretty much dries it out completely. I never ever put away my gear wet.

Before someone stole my ladder racks of my pickup, you'd find my ropes and saddle hangin for the ride.
