Rope snap?

Norm,

Can you post a picture that illustrates the 'roll out' more explicitly. That image just looks like a half clipped snap. I own both the clip you have displayed and the one this thread is about and I can't get either to roll out of a glide Dee without physically depressing the backside lock with my hands. When I have tried rolling out the more controversial early carabiner snaps it was easy to accomplish by pressing the clip "only" against the dee. Essentially the snap rolled inside the Dee and was able to apply pressure to both gates simultaneously.

I should add that I had the snap in question disallowed in the PNW comp a few years ago. The snap in the photo was allowed.

I like Tech cord too. I run a backup bridge made of it.

Norm, I like the screw link for the BFII. I ended up lashing a paddle biner onto that same spot for my saw. It's good because it's easy to grab or hang the saw one handed and it's got extra capacity for temporarily holding other stuff. The downside is, it's easy to accidentally clip my lanyard into it so I have to check it.

I can't get the snap to "roll out" without depressing the backside lock either. And it's not easy to do. Also, the itcc warning Norm posted says nothing about "roll out". Anyways, I'll bring a back-up lanyard to gear inspection.

I do the same thing with a wire gate biner and a locking biner. The wire gate is behind my right D (for my rope bag when doing crane work)and the locker is behind that for my saw. I've clipped the wire gate with my buck strap a couple times and didn't realize till i went to clip the saw back to my harness (coulda been bad). Now i look down after i clip my buck strap in every time. I have the same harness as one pictured in the roll out clip pic (the older version though). I just got a new harness yesterday. It has full size alum. D's as opposed to the small steel ones on the butterfly. I wont get to use it till tomorrow but it seems like the larger D's might reduce the chance of me clipping the accessory biner because of the distinct feel of clipping a larger D.

Sorry if i got a little off topic but the above post reminded me of a safety hazard i've noticed as well.
