RIP Loren Westenberger

Loren actually passed on Nov 5th. He was a great guy. A fountain of tree knowledge, and an irreverent sense of humor. Trees have lost a true friend, and the world is quieter, and not nearly as funny without him.

Wow... I had no idea. Sad news!!! Loren was a good arborist and person. I always enjoyed spending time with him!!! He was passionate about trees to say the least.

My parents have had a place near Loren since the 90's and I think I first met him in 1994 or 1995 at the ISA in Hilton Head. In 2005 while traveling from Hurricane Katrina in NOLA to Hurricane Wilma in Boca Raton we stopped for a few rest days in Pinellas County. I parked my trucks at Loren's place and his hospitality to us was extreme to say the least! I could talk to that guy for hours!!!! I would stop by and see him every year when I visited the area...

He always asked me to go fishing with him when I was down there. I never made it happen. I regret that now. Sometimes you gotta slow down and enjoy life's experiences. I'm bad at that. I will always regret not taking that fishing trip.

RIP Loren - I will miss you brother!

Loren's willingness to work with big old trees, and stand by his work, and run a profitable company, were inspiring to me. Plus he was quite a funny character--never a dull moment! We need more like him.
