Nah, don't think so. Having one at the top of the spike would be considered a "knee ascender", which is used in the gear-intensive ropewalker system, for long straight-up-the-rope climbs of 50' or more. Whereas having one at the ankle helps with shorter climbs away from the trunk, and straight up the rope. Most would probably have the spikes sent up and put them on in the top of the tree if they deemed it beneficial to ropewalk to the top of a removal. IMHO anyway.I have seen a few climbing spikes modified with a foot ascender attached at the ankle. I wonder if attaching one to the top of a climbing spike would be useful.
