Rigging into the truck

awesome into the truck!
beerchug.gif

I operate the same, me and another man. In the high season I hire 1 or 2 more depends.
I strongly recommend the OLDs, its like a third man.
You rig the limb or wood and Jesus is free to pull the tag line to set it down or limb it up while its suspended or tension the speed line.

Bigger truck is Ok I get by with drop axle 12' landscape trailer. Its nice and low you can hump wood over the side or drop the gate and roll the big stuff on.

Cheers

That tree looked rather young for it's size, based on the growth rings at the stump. How old?

i do free/ discounted work for friends all the time, there friends they return the favor, i havnt ever tought of it as being a problem? mabey im missing some thing?

The rings were crazy! I should have put in a little footage of use looking at it when we tried to count the rings. Its grew almost 1 inch in diameter for the 1st 20 years with flood irrigation. Then, after the water was cut off by the city, the growth slowed down proggressively over the next 10 years untill the annual rings were so close together, we couldnt really count them. This is the same story for amny trees here in the valley that once got millions of gallons of water every year then suddenly had that cut off. I have flood irrigation at my house. Its like a jungle in the dessert. All an illusion LOL

millions? ok perhaps hundreds of thousands? I open my valve for 2 hours everey week and my 1/2 acre fills up then soaks in. Most yards the water sits for hours or even a day due to compacted soil. Do any of you have flood irrigation? Its always funny when a snowbird sees all that water in someones yard. They always assume its a main break or something.

That's really wild. I've never heard of that type of water management. Sounds like a good deal for the plants. Do you do ANYTHING to de-compact the soil, or just let it be...let the plants do their thing? That growth sounds incredible, AND a good deal for the city. Does it mean less for a water treatment plant to deal with?

Its a canal system tapped off the larger canals that were built by the Hohokam Indians to irrigate the crops before whitey came. We killed the indians and paved their canals and then expanded them so I can have trees. I think the downside is the evaporation. Its probaly better not to have this and just go with zeriscaping and low water plants better suited to the area. I say this but I wouldnt live here if I could have irrigation. I hate the dessert. The only pocketrs of Phoenix I care for are the ones that still have flood irrigation....even though I know its wrong. Weird huh. Our obsessive need for water.

Reminds me of Colorado and who's bought "water rights", dictating weather people can even harvest water of the roofs of their own homes or not.

1. You place the OLDs/bollard in the tree within reach like you would a rigging pulley
2. Pass the rope in and around the bollard with the wraps respectful of the weight being rigged. 200lbs 2 wraps.
3. Like a pulley in form, so you can open it up and wrap rope mid-line.
4.if its high and out of reach it can be a pain to pull/push the tail back up for the next piece
5. it shortens th length of rope thus adding to the shock load, you are in control and can let it run and feel the the wieght. Like this especially because many times ground guy can't see or feel the weight or can't be trusted to let it run.
6. if the ground guy is busy you can cut and rig and lower freeing up your dude to pull a tag line , run the zip or chainsaw
7.its light weight and easy to throw around

I did a massive White Pine removal with one man with lil experience and cut and rigged everything myself.
I own a Porti and like this much bettter in the tree for the reason it can't lose a wrap or the rope.
Mb you remember my Girdled ash removal, couple seens I was lowering the limbs while Andrew was pulling it away from ton of infrastructure and the garage~Virtually impossible iwth only one man on the ground.
Fro what I can remember 100bucks the cost of the tool is much less than another man who generally stands and watches you work most of the time anyways.

OLDs is a Champ!

If you check out my avatar, see how I have the second rope rigged to control the swing well I could have placed the olds there instead of trusting the friction of rope on bark.
Make the cut, pull and snap the top out and control the butt with the olds.
anyplace you you want friction or a false crotch.
Hope this all makes sense.
Cheers

Oh works both ways to. rig one limb down and the tail comes up, rig that tail down and the first tail comes up.
works reverse or forward, really very simple and easy to get the hang off. Bit more multitasking but yous already an arbclimbin nobleman.

All the money you make with this tool you can buy a RopeKnight and then with all that money you going to make you can get that mini skid and then you will become a fat cat.

Sorry, but, I'm going to be "that" guy. This is probably the sloppiest Jesse Huffman video posted. Total lack of PPE and saw handling skills and noone says peep? Why? because Jesse isn't new on the buzz? Lot's of guys have been totally hosed for way less. There is a huge, HUGE double standard at play here. Jesse, I know you can do better than what was shown in this video.

The PPE thing was solved at the end of the day. Jesus now has a new hat with ear protection and face shield for chipping. The sloppy saw hadling......oh I wish I could fix that. It seems to be the thing that I can not get a grip on. I just dont seem to have the strength to do it right. Thanks for keeping it real Banjo. I agree.
