Riding with Private Malone

In not the best part of town,
standing quielty on a corner property
we have the 'Vette;
the envelope with the letter,
about not making it back from 'Nam,
to drive the car once again;
was in the glove box of.

Mom couldn't sell the car,
after the letter was found;
and so the 60's Vette has sat.
Unable to do anything else,
not even rust away.

Whenever going by, had to tip head some;
seeing it's bumper sticking out the back of the shed.
Always solemnly as the soldier's last friend;
it has gallantly stood, silently waiting.

Now sadly, you must just know it is there,
behind the veil of boards
for his mom; now had to box in the back end of shed in
from view, as all else.
It wasn't everyone over the years knocking,
wishing to buy the car;
but the missing parts etc. that did it!

Should be a monument,
always has been to me!
Should have a lighted flag out side of it 24/7;
but instead thieves take it away!
