Retro climb @ Jambo

Eric Gansauer and I are cooking up a retro climb confabulation. I have a hank of brand new, but 25 year old manila three strand and a really cool home made saddle. A great story to go with the saddle. We'll have a full body harness and a fall arrest system to use in parallel, I don't fully trust the manila rope.

After Jambo I'll probably send a chunk back to Treestuff to be broken.

How many climbers under 45 or even 50 have had the 'pleasure' of picking manila fibers out of your hands?! Any other climbers over 50 who want to be included in a climb and potential video making, get hold of me. Dig out your old gear! I think I have a Fanno handsaw!

Any other +50 year old climbers who are interested in joining the confabulation, let me know. There is a good potential for some video to be captured.

History is going to be made in the comp trees. Lets look at past history too.

I got lucky I guess. I started when Arbor-plex and True Blue was the cool new thing. Wish I could make it out for Jambo. I am really bummed, but there are a lot of other events going on this summer to enjoy.

See you there!

In keeping with the retrocuttingedge mashup...no gloves!

Back in that time gloves weren't worn often. Tough up!

I bought into that B...as in B!...S as in S!...until my GF sneered a comment over her shoulder as I was giving her a neck rub,

If you EVER want to touch me again YOU WILL start wearing gloves!

Yup...from then on, I wore gloves!

I was doing some scaffold work with my old man here and there when he had his business and he ran 3/4 manilla through all his blocks. rough stuff! but on the other hand great grip! Never used it in the arb world..couldnt imagine using it either! have fun!!

I am definitely sorry I am missing this event. Tom that is an awesome idea. Maybe it could be incorporated into other events to show people where the industry came from and where it has progressed.
