Retrieving Rigging Line

One less thing for the groundie to do.

Groundie can walk in with the saw ready to process, while the climber pulls the rope out of the cutting area.

I'm frequently waiting on the ground crew, so I'll take the tool, as applicable, to speed up my operation. If I tie it quicker, then I can start to move into cutting position, quicker.

Share the load across the crew more.

Thanks for posting.

Exactly. You beat me to it!

Instead of swinging the rope, missing, swinging the rope, missing... he can have the brush dragged and chipped while i set the line, groundie comes back, and boom, next piece is on the ground, hes cutting it up, im setting the line...

Thats fantastic! Thank you so much for posting this up.

This and notching big wood while blocking down a spar by keeping your friction saver up top as a tie in point seem to be 2 really helpful tips, especially this for a 2 man crew!

whipping the rope is a learned skill. Some groundless can whip you the rope with ease and others can not. some people are darn right terrible at it. A good whipper can cover quite a bit of distance very fast. if its such a far swing that it cant be whipped by a competent whipper, than usually I would imagine there would be some kind of swing control line on the piece being rigged anyway.
