Regret move to utility line work

Although we see a great deal of crappy line work here in RI, I would say 50% of the time it could have been avoided by planting the appropriate tree below, or moving the planting space. Sometimes utility crews have no choice, and they still get blamed!

I plant London Plane, Honeylocust, Sophora, and Elm under single phase wires with confidence. Their variability of crown shape allows them to be pruned clear of the conductor over time. Under 3-phase, however, I never use anything that can grow over about 30 feet, depending on the height of the wires.

I have great photo evidence to support my argument above, but I don't have access to the pics right now. Will post some later.
