Red Max climbing chainsaw 4 sale

Hey guys,

I am looking to sell my 6 lb top handle Red Max chainsaw that I purchased about a year ago and have hardly used. The problem is that I can't seem to find anyone here that can work on them to tune them up right so that it has any kind of cutting power. It is the lightest 12" climbing saw that anyone makes as far as I know. If you know a lot about chainsaws, then you can probably end up getting this thing to run great, I just can't seem to get it adjusted properly to have any torque to cut and have a smooth idle /forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif. I will take offers on it. I originally paid $299 plus tax for it last year and it still looks very new. I live in Kansas City. Thanks. -Brian

I hope it is better than the Dolmar tophandle saw. I used one last week - that thing doesn't have enough power to trim your toenails with.

While I've used neither saw, I can answer...The 2500 rates a pathetic 1.1 hp, enuf said!!! The new Stihl 192T is rated at 1.8 hp, and, though plagued by recent recall issues, is a good saw. I just scored a 1 mo old one on eBay for $223, and it is going straight to ehp for his magic work, which should give it the snoose of a stock 200T...and at 1.3 lb lighter, should be a dream to operate!

I'm also having Ed mod a new 372 and 346, plus my 372 damaged by a failed rod bearing (Madsen's Power Tuned) if it is rebuildable. His work is impeccable, his 346's routinely beat stock 4.5 cube saws in small wood, and my ehp 357 is a terror!!!

With that barbed wire ya call chain? /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif

Hey, I'll bet that 200 is amazing.....does it take half the time as a 191 or 1/3 to buzz through a cut? Ho bout that modded lil Husky you got from Ed? My guess is 30% faster?

It looked like Ed got my toy 192 cutting about as fast or maybe a tad faster than your 200 would have cut, when it was stock....but likely it was mainly due to muffler mods he did, as the 192 is similar to the 335/8, one piece cylinder/half block, so no compression/squish change is possible....

My 200 would scare you! It keeps on getting stronger each day. I am awaiting my other 200, it should be here early next week. I could not go back to stock saws. My barbwire is cutting pretty good, just wait till I have square ground barbwire.
