Major lack of equipment. My 150ft line just reached the 1st limb. No bigshot. When I got a line on the 1st limb, I opted for an airhump over faster techniques just due to equipment shortage, and safety factors, being alone, etc. Dropping a rope during a change over would have meant several nights waiting in a tree.
No you are definitly not the only one doing it for fun. I try to when I can find the time. Feel free to check out my online photo album of the few climbs I have done this year.
Also I organize gatherings for rec. climber to widen their knowledge base as well as it is more fun climbing with others. Using sites like this help you find others in your area which can turn into a lot of fun.
i like the beer in the tree shot, although you dont look excited.....up here in humboldt most people (experienced "high" climbers) smoke their trees on rec climber...no pics though to busy with other thing...legalities etc...neat trees
anyone got some more pics...oxman or jerry b? how about the set up of the tree boat hammock? id like to see how that is done im trying to save for one.

This is close to the ground but you get the idea, it's very easy to rig. I hung this one in 5 minutes and let a bunch of kids hammer on it all afternoon, held up very well and didn't budge.
Great stuff 020, good to see your gal up in a tree. I predict she will become an excellent climber.
Also good to see your Marquand Park climb still photos (and most excellent videos). I hadn't looked through all the stills before. Looking forward to the next time.

I'd take a look at these as an alternative to a hammock...

That's a nice rig, will definitely give you more options for placement than a New Tribe hammock. It is pricey in comparison though. Ideally I'd like to have both

I stand (sit) corrected Chuck, all the portaledges that
I looked were $400 and up, I'll look again.
The portaledges are very easy to hang. I think the NT hammock is lighter (has minimal hardware) but I've been wrong before My wife remarked the other day as she sat in the NT hammock up in the canopy of an oak that she really likes that it has sides, creates a safe feeling. They're all good, just have different characteristics. Nothing like like laying back in the canopy and enjoying a breeze and the view.
Also thanks for the info on the kid's saddle.
