Quickie killer?

Unlikely is not really the kind of terminology one wants to see when discussing life support systems.

And no matter how "unlikely" you think it is that is exactly what happened when an experienced climber used this deeply flawed device as a canopy anchor. I wonder is the poor fella is still digging around the brush searching the his fucking sheeve?

I know we are all grown ass men with free will, but why trade an ounce of safety for a little conveneince?
Prolly still rasshole looking. 2 days later.

Put this together yesterday. Had to file 3 thousandth off the side of the quickie. Intended to shorten up a 3 to 1 seems to work. More options possible. Will give it a go this week.

If ISC had made their sheeve with a bushing that went all the way through, rather than how they did make it with that groove in the middle, it would fit nicely on the Quickie pin. But I suppose they wouldn't have liked people using it on that.
I do think they would be better off just selling the sheeve with a straight through bushing so you could put it on a Quickie rather than this contraption they are selling.
I may try and rebush the sheeve and give that a whirl.

Is "improbable" better? There's no guarantees with any device, especially not with the trees you're anchoring to. I guess that's why redundancies are so nice. If it's improbable to unlock and even more improbable for the pin to come off (set up right) then that is within my acceptable risk threshold tolerance. Not trying to protect this device's reputation or tell anyone else to use it. I just like to inform myself and test things out on my own. It seemed like discussion was very one sided and not totally inline with my initial observations. I appreciate the videos and discussion so we can all learn and improve. Opening upon retrieval when not in life support mode is where I figured it would be most likely to occur. I'd like to test configurations and see if this is something easily mitigated. Really curious what ISC has to say for themselves though.. Quickie appears to still have the edge, great device.

When, and if I hear back from ISC I will post their response here.

And I will admit that my take on this device is one sided. I got mine, rubbed it on a branch, and it fell apart. I rubbed it on a rope, and it fell apart. I rubbed a rope on it, and it fell apart. I can't help but be one sided on this piece of equipment. I suppose I could take the other side and say it looks pretty, with a nice silvery finish.

I will stop telling you what a terrible thing this is. I believe I have made my case and the prosecution rests.

Why in heavens name would you do this for a 3:1.....so many cleaner options out there. This for climbing? Or a rigging scenario?

That was a serious product?
A f’ing shackle with some extra parts?
That was a spoof video on the new ISC UltraLink we have been talking about. That shackle he was holding has been out for a long time and used by the off-road people for 2:1 recovery operations. Probably where ISC got the idea for their abomination. Oops, I forgot I was done knocking it. Strike the word, OBOMINATION from the record.
Or was your question just sarcasm...:)

That video didn't stay up long. The jack of all trades, master of none apparently can play off of my videos but won't let me play his. He just lurks around here for YouTube content, I guess.

The spoof videos will come and go but the stench of the ultra-stink will remain...

Look for my upcoming hit single "The Stench Remains the Same"
