question for nick on replacement bridge

I'd probably do it. There is a concern that high-mod lines don't respond well to knotting. I'd suggest a triple fisherperson's knot, rather than the standard double.

What's your motivation? Is this just some line you have readily available? Can you stick with a polyester double braid?

i put a nice size tear in the bridge coming down out of a tree, it looked like an old piece of copper tubbing sticking out of the tree and the bridge caught on it, made a nice tear

I was going to use Aracom T just because i like it and use it for several other applications, I figured i'd ask you about it, you seem to be the rope guy here

what double braid would you recommend, thats as stong as Aracom T, and has the same stiffness

I'm curious Nick: would you use a polyester bouble braid over a high-mod line? I like the strength assurance of a Technora or Dyneema line, perhaps with a polyester cover to hold the knot better and keep the dirt out. And how about the cut resistance of Technora? Has anyone tested a piece against a runing chainsaw? I expect it will get beat up real nice like, but if there's a chance there will be still enough fiber that you don't hit the ground if you should cut it, heaven forbid then we're in better shape I think. ~ just a thought.

A quick response.....can I refer you to the User Instructions for your treeMOTION. Towards the end there is a statement that says the replacement bridge needs to be approved by the manufacturer [for the certification to be valid]. There is a Teufelberger replacement bridge (Part No. 7333212)

Instructions for replacing the bridge can be found here:

For reference, I would not use an Aramid as the load bearing part in a replacement bridge because of its poor flex fatigue and knotted strength. I have tried cords with a cover that includes an Aramid on the bridge.....but the abrasion resistance is not as good as a 100% Polyester cord.

P.S. I've sent you a PM.
