Protien drinks

[ QUOTE ]
you guys are takin the tree climber craziness to a new level! Why drink junk when you can get good wholesome food that nourishes the body? how much does all the muscle building, carb loading stuff cost you everyday? and do you bounce out of bed and crank all day or do you still feel tired?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not a pro climber, heck I'm too new to it to even qualify as a newb climber. I train for size and from more of a body building standpoint. I like weighing 240 lbs at 5' 11". I'm sure your product is fine, but it's not what a body builder is looking for. There are different qualities and platforms of protein, and ratios in which protein, carbs and fats should be taken in. I read up on your product, and I think I saw something in there about soy protein. Soy protein isn't typically considered BB friendly. It's not tabboo, but it's not a cornerstone. And excess intake of soy based proteins (the 200+ grams I take in a day) have been shown to raise estrogen levels in men. Not to the level of developing breasts or anything like that, but estrogen is bad when you're trying to gain lean mass. Add to that the emphasis on BCAA's, the different types of proteins needed at different times of day, and relative to workout schedules, and you can see why I take in the macronutrients I do, in the manner in which I do. I could buy Ensure at the grocery store, it's got some protein in it, but I'd rather take Nitro Tech and Meso Tech to get my whey, my glutamine, my BCAA's, and to get it all in a protein that not's hydrolized. I think I read that your product had hydrolized proteins in it. Not bad in and of itself, and fine for day to day protein needs, but not the best for gains in lean mass. /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And yes, I do get out of bed and crank all day. That's because I eat every two to three hours, and eat what my body needs, when my body needs it.

Jeff, you sound hardcore! I used to take in over 5000 cals a day when I was bulking up and that took a ton of energy to follow that diet.

[/ QUOTE ]

I try my best, but I'm a hardgainer, so I don't know if I look hardcore. It is a pain keeping a food log, but it keeps you honest, and lets you make adjustments to what you're doing and they go along way. You don't realize how much one Coke, or a bag of chips or whatever will throw off your daily numbers until you see it in pen and ink. And it'll do it in a bad way!

I'll never be shredded and dry, or likely even below 10% body fat again (I was in high school) but I am bigger than my buddys and I just want to outwardly appear to be big and fit. Loads of vascularity would be nice, but I've got a life to live, and that includes a couple of beers on the weekends, some cheese burgers on the grill once in a while and so on. I want fitness and bodybuilding (for lack of a better description of how I train, though I don't consider myself a body builder) to be an aspect of my lifestyle. Not my lifestyle to be an aspect of my fitness and rule my life.

Jeff

Well said Jeff. I share a lot of your traits. I don't train for body building, but love to have a fitness lifestyle. I train to keep in good shape and stay strong and (hopefully) injury free at work. I cross train by doing outdoor activities and hockey 3 nights a week. That's what I like. I also like to eat well and feel that it makes a huge difference in how we feel, look and perform.

I also like to not be a nut about it all. If I can't train tonight because I worked late, oh well. I'll train tomorrow. And if I have a beer after work while reading Treebuzz so be it! Moderation my friend!

I'm having one right now! I guess I'll have to skip the Olympia this year! /forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have to say that protien drinks are a good thing. For me it is cause I have a high metabolizem, I get head aches if I do not eat for some time, my dad turned me on to EAS sytem and man have they helped. I have friends that still call me little for the work I do, but I tell them you weigh what, well it would take me a month of sitting on my but to get there. So to the protien shakes and drinks I give thanks for the energy and the needed suploments for the day.

Maybe Ronnie?

I'm more of a Gunter and Lee Preist fan. Did you see the new tattoo on his face? What's up with that?

Gunter really made some solid gains this last Olympia without getting the "gut." Dude's one of the tallest body builders out there, and it's hard to fill in all that space. But he really brought his arms and thickness up this year.

Yeah, I'm only 347 weeks out from my first contest.... /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Gunter is 6'1", which to those that don't know, is huge for a body builder.

Here's a pic of Lee and his face ink. I like tats, got several of my own, but none on my face. That's a bit too much for me I guess.

Yup. Too bad that it has to be that way. So many people think that all you have to do is take a few drugs and lift a weight or two to look like that. No way! It is so much hard work to look like that with or without them. Well, I guess you can't look exactly like that without them, but you know what I mean.

I used to train in a gym with a few BB's. One was Franco Santoriello. He was the Metrx guy early on. He trained for hours every day, sometimes twice a day. Then all of the focus on what to eat and drink each hour of the day. It was a full time job.

I was in awe when I saw Rich Gaspari in a gym once. Boy did he train intensely. And when I saw Kevin Levrone in person his wheels scared me. He looked like a TV action figure moving around with thoise legs- almost animated. You have wheels like that Jeff?

Nah, mine are more like Tom Platz's. HAHA!

My legs are my strongest and most easily developed body part though. Of course I wish my arms and chest grew like my legs and back does. No one says, "Man, that dude has a killer outter sweeps!" Or, "Wow, that guy's lats are amazing." They don't get the looks that 21" bis get. Mine only tape out about 19". /forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif
