Proper channels to get this taken down!

There is what looks like an Ash Tree across the street from my house that is dead. Well not completely it has one cluster of leaves on one branch. It is positioned on the edge of a hill next to the road where the root system was ripped up for he road. I'm guessing it could be a victim of the EAB as well.

When it falls it may or may not hit my vehicles. It will certainly take my service drop out. It will be a close call! It might be in the counties ROW. Not sure that will be close as well.

Who should I contact to have this hazard taken care of. I've thought about doing it myself but this is a high traffic backroad. It is also sitting around a blind curve and I'm not so sure about rigging this one, the tops are really dead and been that way awhile.

With my luck I would go to do it and get sued by the property owner.

Is there a specific Dept I should call. I've taken several pics to document this Tree. I just want to cover my a$$ so when it falls it doesn't come back on me.

I would think start with your HO ins co. If there is a liability, I am sure they will find who will take care of it. Ask your neighbor who his ins co is as well. This may get the ball rolling in the right direction.

Go out late one night with an ax and cross cut saw. And let her fly that way there's no noise from a chainsaw and then run in the house and get into bed.

Is it near that utility line? Try the Power Co. then. Usually 10' from the curb is the easement. If it's within that call the town's DPW. If it's further in then contact the property owner. If they blow you off, send a registered letter from your lawyer advising them of their liability and that you will pursue legal action if it fails and causes any damage to you or disruption. If it's not an occupied property you can still find the owner through the tax assessment rolls at the town's offices.

The pic helps alot.

That looks like a public nuisance for sure, the township or county crew should tend to it, with a bucket of course, give them an excuse to buy some new gear maybe.

Certified letter to owner, copy town attorney. $5. total.

On one moving leaner over a hwy i called the sheriff. Response was shockingly fast. yours does not look so urgent; will probably crumble top down, but much better to be gone.

You'd be crazy to touch it, even with silent saws. trespassing is not admired by authorities.
