Praise For Jerry Beranek\'s New Rigging DVD\'s

Working Climber Series II

For those of you who didn't get a chance to get a copy of Jerry B's new DVD's down at the ISA show, you can now get them from Bailey's (or even maybe Jerry himself).

I highly recommend that you guys get a set of the new rigging dvd's. They are chalk full of useful info for the new and experienced tree rigger out there.

Here's a quick list of what the 3 dvd's contain:

Disk 1: The Handsaw, The Pole Saw, Chainsaw Handling, The Cuts.

Disk 2: Limbing The Tree, Topping The Tree, Chunking It Down.

Disk 3: Rigging In The Tree

No problem Jer. I meant every word of it.

Everyone can learn something from these dvd's. They really give you a great visual of the things that you explain so well in your Fundamentals Book.

I love the "Arbor Joe" guy too!

I haven't seen GB's new rigging DVD's yet, but I was really impressed with his new DRT ascending method that uses leg power allowing you to basically walk up the rope!

The first time I saw the vid of him demonstrating it, I had no idea it was GB in the vid, or that he had invented the method.

Brilliant new technique GB, and here I thought you were pretty much a giant takedown guru that spent most of your career on gaffs!

Re: Praise For Jerry Beranek\'s New Rigging DVD\'s

Take-downs have long my line, jo, but I have dabbled a little in preservation trims over the years. I was trimming spurless in 1970 when the rest of the crews were not.

It was line clearance trimming, and so to get the clearance most of the trees were hacked anyway. Too bad, but that was the way it was back then. And by the looks of it even today.

A lot of sacrifice's are made in line clearance trimming, and mostly because people are under-trained and too short sighted. Just my opinion. Even within the realm of what's considered proper ones methods in their trimming can attract a lot of criticisms.

And in that respect take downs have always garnered better reviews.

It's a bitch, but it's the truth.

Re: Praise For Jerry Beranek\'s New Rigging DVD\'s

While I found the film to be very open minded in regards to concepts and techniques, I also felt myself being positively steered away from the most potentially dangerous practices….Jerry kinda gives you the options but then pricks your conscience thereafter. So not only is the film a testament to some 40+ years of solving tree problems, but is furthermore a credit to the man’s teaching skills.

Graphic footage, experiments and simulations, the film is absolutely loaded….and even at 6 hours duration nothing feels like it’s been wasted or overstated. Full credit to you Jerry, it’s a brilliant presentation!

awesome, I'm going to order my autographed version today, or in the next few days anyway...

Re: Praise For Jerry Beranek\'s New Rigging DVD\'s

You won't regret it. Believe me!

Like I said, it goes along with Jerry's Fundamental Book so well, that I found myself sitting down with my book at times when I was watching it reviewing it too.

And you are going to love "Arbor Joe". He makes it very safe to demonstrate unsafe conditions.
