My thought is that Stihl makes the best pole saw due to the power to weight ratio. My neighbors tree service has an echo pole saw and that thing is as heavy as an anvil. The 131 in stihl has more power than the 110 stihl, the 131 has been my personal favorite and has lasted me for 6years now. If you dont like the stihl any more, than try the echo. I would personally choose the stihl first, then the echo. good luck

+1

The other thing for me at least is the handle - I am not a fan of the ergonomic handle. More of a preferance than anything else.

I still like the stihl. It is still good . I just need 2 for a job I just got. I just figured I would do my due diligence before purchasing one.

I used an couple echo half shaft power pole saws, and was decently happy with them. A guy I worked with had two, and they had worked great for him for some time. I could guess at least 3 years...

When I bought my KM130 I openly considered the Echo version of the kombo system, and when it came down to the bottom line, cost and weight. Overall for the purchase of about $1200, the echo was only like $150 or so less. I went with the Stihl which was lighter.

I prefer the Stihl but if you need to hedge with the applicable hedging attachment, the echo hedging attachment is much lighter and cuts through heavier wood, good for those times when full extension at horizontal are required.

I love the Stihl power pole saw, I would always grab that one over the Echo. Although, I have had the echo for 5 plus years now, and never had an issue. One thing to note is that I've seen more Stihl Gas Pole Saws bend at the shaft than echo. Echo of course is a bit heavier, although it may be more durable. I also know back when I got mine, It was the only extension pole pruner of that length to fit a articulating hedge trimmer attachment onto the end.
