hey Gord. The tree was a small / medium size old growth at 170 ft tall. Fairly easy climb. Here is a photo looking up through the upper canopy

Wolfy fir, Gordo....DBH? I'd guess 44 if there was no abnormal butt swell like the ugly one I craned out yestiddy. It was 130 feet tall, produced about 20 yards of chips and 1/4 cord of branch wood. Butt cut abt 48". Odd and unexpected pocket heart rot at 25 feet will ding us on the log $.....but it only took 3 hrs to limb out and 30 minutes to crane. Butt log weighed in at close to 12k, a delicate pick with the 23 tonner and way heavy for sure!! I estimated it at 9000 lb...Mike had trouble picking it, prolly cause I had trouble getting a straight cut and had to chase a bit of holding wood in the center...maybe I should have Tommy Fales file me a chain..anyone wanna spot me $650 to pay him for one...?

Later the same day...some real high grade timber....

..ummmm

nice view though, eh?
You too could enjoy it if the house was for sale, but you'd need 2 or 3 million bucks...

Hey Craig....ummm, possibly, but I'd prefer the kind that is softer and gives feedback....and is a different color.

How's that for an answer to a phantom question....

Well, here I sit at the puter, once again wondering where the motley crew is...the one with no alarm clock and a malfunctioning cell phone. But, as usual, Scott Chapple is coming to the rescue and will pick up another backup climber. And Robert Oxman will run the ground. Unfortunately the drop dead gorgeous female that I tried out last Friday has found another job....She has been a smoke jumper and hotshot..and climbed for the forest service. I let her climb 3 trees, it was her first residential job..too bad she is off the market in 6 weeks...anyone know a hit man? jk...

Scott's gonna help me prune a 150 plus foot fir that has to have some branches shortened..a tough job as some are over a tile roof..and it is never easy to get out on long leggy fir branches and lower/zip tips....I prefer to use a pole saw and let em fly....

Awesome shot. The climber in that tree spent a few hours in the spurs I'll bet.

Thanks Gerald. I spent the better part of the day in spurs for sure.
