Petzl Voltige Chest Harness?

I think it would position the Croll too high, Croll works best anchored at the waist. You might be able to build an improvised chest roller with the Voltige, that would definitely improve your SRT ascent.

moss, that was my concern too, was that the Voltige would position the Croll too high on my TreeFlex, but it sounds like both you and Norm think that it'll work good with my SRT system.

I think that I'll give it a try. Any idea which biners or connections would work best with the Croll, TreeFlex and Voltige?

Not that I'll be climbing anytime soon after just having tendon surgery again on my other elbow, but I'm already planning on how I can make my climbing more efficient.

...I'm looking for something to replace my Petzl Secur suspenders, but will still be compatible with my TreeFlex saddle.

Chris, why are you ditching the suspenders? I have the Voltige but could not get as comfortable with it as with suspenders. I use the Torse ascender strap and most of the time I forget it is even there.

Dave, when I SRT, I pull the Secur suspenders really tight to put me in an upright position for when I Frog Walk up the line.

The problem that I have is the suspenders cut and chafe my neck pretty badly (especially in hot, humid weather), so I was thinking that Voltige may be more comfortable. I use the Torse ascender straps too, but have had the same issues.

Maybe I should try to find a seamstress who can sew some custom padded straps in my suspenders?

Chris, my left shoulder was out of commission for about 4 months, during that time I was able to climb really well SRT with this fine piece of hardware:
PMI chest roller

The build quality is excellent, quick on and off the rope, allows you to focus your ascent push on your legs and core more than your arms. Not as bothersome to wear when you're climbing as it looks, very comfortable.

I just purchased this harness yesterday from Treestuff for an upgrade to my srt setup from the secur. Its fully adj so I cant see the positioning being a problem. The main reason Im changing is the two indipendent straps on the secur attached to my saddle pul it down digging into my shoulders, and by having the setup indipendent from my saddle hopefully = more comfort. Should be here in a cpl days Ill throw out an update in a few weeks.

Norm how are you setting up the Croll with the Voltige?
Thanks,

I have an SRT line set up in the tree. I attach the top of the Croll to the chest harness with an Ultra O, and attach the bottom with an Ultra O to the bridge on my B2. Above the Croll, I have a secret weapon with a DRT system that I advance while I'm ascending. I also have a Pantin on my foot.

Chris, check out this biner from Petzl...looks might it might make for a great connection option between your TreeFlex and the Voltige.

Petzl's Omni is also available in TriAct-Lock version in addition to the screw lock shown. (See the Petzl commparison chart.)
I've have one for use on my Kolibri suspender's chest ascender loops.
