Penn Del

Ryan won , Pen-del went from 70 competitors to five . Ryan had an excellent climb . Five people in Pennsylvania competed for the right to represent the Penn-Del chapter in 2015 . 5 . Some were at the tcia expo getting up on current practices and others were not informed . No prizes , no trophies , just an invite to the ITCC . Ryan is a very good climber and I wish him the best . He's been in the top for many years . I'm disappointed in how this years comp went down . It was on the down low . 70 plus to 5 . says it all . Not taking nothing away from the champ , because he is a great competitor , had a great climb . No prizes ? no competitor's ? embarrassing . been involved in Pen-Del since 1985 tcc, never thought it would be this bad . this was a low point . Too many climbers in Pa. to just have 5 fight for the title . Won't happen again .

Congrats Ryan! See you in Tampa.

I hear ya Riggs. This year was different at many comps. I'm sure there were a lot of disappointed competitors that were not invited along. Too bad. Most organizers were caught with their pants down on the timing issue for 2015.

Riggs I agree totally. I don't blame pen-del though, its kinda the hand delt. I have noticed Many of the chapters are "throwing" together comps, by invitation only, to get a competitor for Tampa. Its a shame that it had to go down that way, but that's life I guess. I heard Ryan had an awesome climb and am very happy he is representing pen-del for the second time in recent years.

Chapters all knew. Volunteers are available till money shouts! I texted, emailed best I could. To think the TCC is not important, and to think splitting the ITTC from the ISA convention is a good idea, is nuts. I can’t wait to see those numbers. I hope whoever is , or hopefully has put this into action knows how bad he fkd up ( double attendance?!) All climbers are the industry and the show. Disgrace , I’ll bet it’s the lowest attendance ever for the ISA show in august . EVER 6-1

Riggs,I also think splitting them is a shame. My perspective from a committee member 2004-10: this had been proposed long ago and discussed a lot. Ways to get crossover attendance where people do both, which treebuzzers might find natural, and stay a whole week have been tried but not enough crossed over. Economics is a part, but it also seems symbolic of the wider lack of mutual interest and awareness, resulting from over/t/specialization?

Iamnotasociologist...but I like the ArborCamp format as done in Sweden, England, Australia etc., to surround a TCC.

How we pursue knowledge however, and the foci of our attention differs considerably from one field to another... Whether by collecting and analyzing empirical data or through logical discourse or other means, every discipline strives to understand our tree world. Theoretical frameworks vary, but the attempt to understand and cope with our tree world by some method that uses inquiry and an open mind seems universal among academics. Now is that some Bullsh8T OR WHAT ? Start another Thread Guy , I'll bring the toilet paper .

even though I AM on Guy's side... (wish I knew what they are talking about) that was HILARIOUS

Tree jam camp I think will be a lot like arbor camp. I agree that tree climbing events need to have more stuff about trees than just climbing.
