Palm tree clean-up in SO-CAL

Location
SO-CAL
This is the only way to clean up palms if you don't have a tower truck or a large ladder ...

Big shot over the top 2 trys , ran up climbing line up and over the top ... On this palm i did a SRT climb using a kong ascender and a adjustable foot strap then once at the top i tie in w/a two-ring friction saver ,then i work my way down using a split tail system, some times i will come down on a grigri ,,,, Total time on this palm 35min plus stopping to take a pic... Very simple, Very easy , Very Safe...

Climb safe ,, Later in SO-CAL

I LOVE IT!!!!
You made my day with this pic not to mention I worked with a buddy of mine today who told me about a skirt he climbed OVER recently using his throwline. Never again should we have to here about some knucklehead suffocating under a load of fronds.
Great work ! SUPER ! FANTASTIC ! OUTSTANDING!

Nice job.

When you send the climb line over the top, is breaking fronds with your weight on the rope, or fronds cutting the rope, is any of that a potential issue?

After i get the my throw line i either go w/a small black widow line which is a strong little line i then tie of a pulley to it w/a climbing line and due the body -thrust up the tree or a SRT w/a static kermantle rope.. Also on the SRT i tie of at the base of tree w/ a port-a-wrap in case of an emergency ,my guys can lower me down.. If you hit the palm right in the middle the rope goes right down , no damage to the palm or to your rope..
The cost for this palm was only $175 and no clean up and i can due them all day .. You got to remember that they pay for the experience and the work.. I see too many of my Mexican brothers due them for less than that and laso get killed..

That tree saddle that i have is a BRY-DAN , i order that from Sierra Moreno Mercantile Co, Don F.Blair..

Scotty thanks for B- Day had a great day w/my family (Big 45) yesterday..

Nice work! I just did a filifera (cal. fan) the other day and used the same technique. Happy belated birthday! I hope I'm still climbing strong when I'm 45.

Your welcome, I'm glad you had a great day with the family man'
Hmm 45 maybe you need to take a trip to Fl. in Jan for the Geezers.
Opps wrong place, sorry.
It is the only way to do those type of palms for sure. I have a couple to do on Mon. I'll try to get some shots. 45 less than 30 day's.

tree looks great, how often do you palm climbers experience rats, snakes and bees in the dead fronds? we dont have many to worry about here in sunny new jersey, its actually snowing right now, not too good of a climate for palms

The BryDan was one of the first saddles I ever saved up for and bought, many many moons ago.

It is a great saddle. The design is clean, it works very well, and is more durable than many of the 'exotic' saddles out today.

Yea right, I have a tendency of running into those little critters. Raccoons, possums, rats and any other but with my mighty silky handsaw nothing beats it.

I'll post a pic of some real ugly and dangerous palms that i look at today ,,, If the price is right we'll be doing them soon...

I live in Florida and I'm set up to climb the same way, but I've heared the line/bull line can get pinched. how often does this happen to you?
