on line attachment prusik

hello treeworld
i come to you in need of advice, i just purchased an online attachment prusik, about 8mm thick looks like ice line, anyways, its not what i was looking for, you see, im trying to have my hitch tendin pully up higher so that when im ascending into the tree i dont constantly hit the knot, right now im using a vt knot with a pully on a biner connected directly to my bridge. any suggestions fellas even with my extremely complicated description of what i use now, shoot, even if you cant understand what i said, let me know what yall are usin and ill just steal it from you, thanks guys

Can you get us a photo of what you're doing? I have a feeling what you've described is what most of the people here are doing...but I am not perfectly clear based on what I've read.

Do you have a small sling you could use to try something out? Maybe a 12" or 24" webbing sling, or another loop prusik, or something like that?

love

Hi Tom,

the advantage is for going up only, really - it allows you to hip-thrust with a distel/michoacan/schwabisch style hitch by putting the hitch further up the rope. usually once i get to the destination i re-tie the regular way to work. i used it today actually - i had to take off a bunch of stubs on a scots pine - since i was basically just going up right next to the tree and cutting them off as i went up it was a nice way to go. since i didn't need to do any other pruning on the tree i didn't reset the system - i just came down.

hope this helps -

peace,

mk
