Olympia, WA, various needs.

Got my transitional / short-term housing set up for new/ traveling employee at a basic level in my shop, with access to a full bath and laundry.

Electric heater, camp stove, coffee maker, recliner and bed. Toaster oven needs a cleaning.

I'll look for a mini-fridge, microwave and sink and set up a covered kitchen in another part of the shop with a counter top and cabinets. View attachment 86423

Housing can be difficult to find, locally, from afar. Having a place for a person to land should help.

IMO, the PNW is a work-cation destination.

3 steps from the door to a great 36" dbh deodora cedar to climb.

For whatever it's worth... Sean's great to work with! Safety was always top priority and his efficiency was top notch.

If I wasn't as far away or as busy I would be in his beautiful neck of the woods in a heartbeat. Stunning views and I've never seen so many no cleanup jobs in my life. Definitely an endless stream of knowledge and learning the entire day, and he wants you to grow.

If anyone has the opportunity to and is able, I would highly recommend taking him up on the offer. One hell of a mentor.

Did I mention the views?

Going into the busy season, again. Curious who's traveling, etc, etc.

Started a pruning and wrecking job, half a mile from my house. Not unusual work. Long-established clients, elderly ladies who grew up on the property.

One 44" dbh x 150ish' doug-fir with Phellinus pini/ red-ring rot to go, also positioned on the upwind side of the house.

Another medium and large fir getting canopy raises for light to the house.

This 28"ish doug-fir is leaning right at the house, from the upwind side. A cool tree, but I'd be concerned about it with an ice-storm. They want more sunlight, too.

Pics coming.

It's been the first dry day in a long while, and I got the itch to get started on this project today.

About 2 hours prep/ climbing time to carefully dice and free-fall all of these long limbs in small and large pieces, ziplining the last, very long limb which was overhanging that 20' cherry. House is out of frame to the left a few feet in this last shot, behind those (keeper) rhododen.

I transferred to the large tree behind me and advanced my climb line about 10-15' higher than the crook in the smaller tree, where I'll hang some rigging rings on the big tree, tomorrow to rig down that crooked, regrown top. It. All the climbline I had to DdRt/ MRS down.

At the crook in the trunk, the regrowth leads horizontally for about 10', pretty thick log, with that spray of horizontal branches, and a 20' upright leader.

Tomorrow the mini will move the chipper in and around, pulling the pile apart and feeding some of the brush. We'll blow a chip pile onto which I'll drop the trunk wood, protecting the root zone and an underground irrigation pipe, somewhere.

I figured out that my ax head makes a good tool to put into the face-cut to rock the chunk away from me if I don't have a piece of wood. I face-cut the piece a little too much toward the keeper tree, and not centered on the chip pile.

Today's 5' dbh doug-fir canopy raise ( the 70 y.o. homeowner's childhood climbing tree over her playhouse, hidden in the shadow). It dwarfs the 3' dbh tree behind it.
