Are non-locking biners acceptable for a redirect? If so. what about wire gates.

I do not think there is anything in the ANSI standards addressing rede's. I would consider them life support.

Since re-di's are a component of your work positioning system you can't use them. Even though the Z doesn't specifically address redi's it does say that all links need to be lockers.

Think about what would happen if any biner rolled open.

You could use two biners in opposite-opposing configuration. By the time that you rig that you'd have a locker in place. Weight to arbos comes in one or two pound increments. Rock climbers measure in grams and ounces

Another thing to remember is that your slings need to meet the 5,400# breaking strength. If a typical sling, which is rated at 22kN, were used in an end to end configuration it wouldn't be acceptable. In a basket is should. Girth hitch falls somewhere in between depending on the configuration.
