NO women climbers...

hey Jersey girl!

Thanks for your input, it's nice to hear perspectives from people who've been there. I agree the motivation has to be that you're there for the experience, and to just get the most out of it. I can see how it would be a bit intimidating to be the only woman, so hopefully more will come out & give it a try. The guys are the best, they're so nice right across the board, so I hope a bunch of us can join in & add to that whole good groove.

Hope to climb w/ you someday,
Laurie

and it looks like X man wants to come along

when you climb a euc, do you end up smelling all minty fresh? So how long have you been in Hawaii and do you ever get off the islands, Joshua? Not that you'd want to, just curious

i do actually. i visit my father in santa clara california and with my GF we visit her family in northwood ohio just south of toledo. havent got to climb anything outta state yet

my dream is to climb a tall redwood with some cool people

that dream can come true, the next treeclimber's rendezvous is in Cali in October... lotsa rec climbers and pro arbs too... Nick Araya is organizing it, so hound him to TELL US THE DATES and DETAILS!!!! There is def talk of redwoods :)

next time you & GF are in Ohio please drop me a line, we'll climb something!

I plan on competing in May and I am just doing it. I am not ready, and I am nervous as hell. Frax, you say you are not ready, well, as of yet, I can not foot lock 40", my throw line skills...Screw it...It is not the first time I've ever made a fool of my self. I am not where I want to be, but believe there are 2 more comps w/ in traveling distance and should be in better shape by then. I do not like preforming in public and hope this first comp will help me get over it.

I like Jerseygirls comments, I am going to hold onto that.

and I think you'll find it challenging and absolutely worth it.
Jerseygirl has given us a nice mantra... do it for yourself, play it your own way

Where will you be competing? We will be cheering you on

Sooooo.... I guess I should say I'm in for the KY comp... I've got until October.

Begin before your ready.

If not now, When?

Define yourself don't let others do it for you.

Tony gave us some nice mantras too

thanks, great encouragement!

Katy, you & MLR are in the same comp? sweet! You're gonna have so much fun, & you CAN work as a team... sort of. One thing I was surprised about during the Ohio TCC was how much the guys helped each other... once they went thru the event themselves, they'd yell out to the next guy in the tree what to watch out for, what to avoid, what to remember, etc. There wasn't much heckling, it was all positive that I saw. Nice.

If any of the women on this thread want to join the PNW chapter and come out for the comp on May 21st, I'll make sure you get registered, right up to the last minute. Right now we have 3 women registered and it even looks as if I'll be able to have at least one event with an entirely female judging staff.

Bring it!

Zeb, that is such a great offer! I wish I was in the position to take a road trip, it would be too much fun! I'm sure all the women (& men too) will rock it!!
This is where Katy is competing, right? It would be awesome to join in, maybe next year :)
