NJ Climbing Comp.

Yeah it would have, might be why the we left a good amount of hinge wood. Would have helped if we had the right saw and it wasnt still in pieces.

Just wondering what the usual times range in the footlocking comp would get you points? I know that i goes by the best and you are deducted points by there time but what times are pretty same? between 20 secs. to 40 secs? Would that be about right. Would hate to waste sooooo much energy on an event when you have no chance of getting any points you know. Ty.

Mark's got the record and he'll be there, so if you footlock under the 15 sec clip, I would say go for it. You should still compete in that event because anything could happen. Competitor slip up etc....(we are human). I wouldn't bail on it from a strategic standpoint.

If your gonna waste sooooo much energy then your probably not doing something right. You probably burn more calories in 15 seconds having sed then you would 15 seconds of footlocking. Better work on your technique in both departments. Just a thought.

why not use it as practice under real conditions even if you get a 0. It can be a lot different pressure than a buddy timing you. That way when your time is worth points you will have the proper composure.

Oh I definitly am going to do just looking for a good target time area. Yeah I there are some really good climbers and all. I just have a problem with my foot work of keeping the ropes from getting away from my and sometimes rapping around my foot.
I am making something for my leg to keep the rope close by. Just goona weld a carabing to a small still plate so it will stick at a 90 degree angle them am gonna take a spike upper support strap and attack it to the back of the plate. I know by doing this you can loose time if the robe doesn't fall through like it should but figured it woul;d help from develpoing technique and not worrying about were the robe is.

Just wondering if anyone has recieved their registration applications yet. My company usually gets them sent to them every year but there have been years they didn't get any so should I just call NJISA and ask them to send me one?

Also a few questions being this would be my first time going:
1-What sizer rope do you need to bring? I was told 150' awhile ago and I only have a 60,120, and 200. Just want to be sure.
2-During the work climb must you yell "stand clear" or "headache" before ringing the bell or no, or do you have to wait for an "all clear" before ringing it.

climber020.. when you make that foot plate send a pic .. I have hard time as well keeping the ropes together on the footlock climb. We have our tcc in june .. later in SO-CAL

I bought the materials for the plate but just ended up using the kong pear shaped carabiner and lacing it through my laces. I set it up inside my shop on an I-beam with a rescue pulley and it worked very well. Haven't had a chance to try it for a full ascent though but have heard that sometimes the rope won't go through the biner and could cost you some time.

150 feet is standard. Yes, you need to vocalize your climb as if there was a groundperson under you. You can't be over-redundant with the safety aspect of climbing during competition.

OK
When is this - June 9th ???? - anyother information available? Do I need to bring my own tree to climb. Gee the last time i was in New Jersey (home for me) there were more cars and people then trees.

SO how do I find this place - I can wear my new helmet and model it for all. (joke)

thanks

Re: NJ Climbing Comp./BBQ

keep in mind there is a BBQ after the event. Good chance to mingle and get to know your fellow competitors. Competitors are free but there's a $15 charge for guests. I think the kids are $7. Its an all you can eat catered event.
