ninja climbs, coast redwoods, and social media. ecology vs culture

Why are we so obsessed with biggest? Why not hold smallest in the same regard? Where I live, people have swarmed here from everywhere to love nature to death. "Conquering" nature, hitting the pr, "bagging" a 14er. No one even knows why. Just running around like crazy but, they never saw what happens in the meadow at sunset :ROFLMAO:

What happens in the meadow at sunset? ;)

Shit I just read the whole of the SF article. I know Oxman and his hubris showboating. Had no idea he was up to illegal redwood guided climbs.
Shame on you!

In 2002 Oxman was fined $400 by the US Forest Service for guiding an unpermitted climb in the Olympic National Park.

Anyone claiming that they didn't know about climbing restrictions on public land is a Liar.

I hope that the English climber has issues trying to visit the US with his family for the rest of his life.

A little history…. I nearly forgot
What a fucken hypocrite
"Violent Freshwater Extraction" on YT. I watched it years and years ago and the brutality of that event stuck with me.

It's really sad to know that there are people with that kind of violence and hatred walking around out there. And accepted in the tree community. I mean, that's just sick. Inexcusable.

there was some HOT Internet chatter when the video of that even went public.

Awful
Apparently the contract with the timber company was $60k
Think it was a crew of 2-3
You could hear the saws running as the loggers were falling NEIGHBORING trees.

There are good reasons that civilized societies value their superlatives. Those superlatives are protected and respected so that followiing generations will be able to experience their grandeur.

In the past few days Mickey Mantle;s 'Called Shot' jersey sold for $24 MILLION. A new one can be bought for less than $100. There's no need to waste time discussing the differences between the two.

Shame on 'tree-climb poachers'
