new tool

I like the looks of that. I wonder how much the probe costs because you could just out fit a solo tank with one. Maybe cheaper? the tank can't be more than 80 bucks at most. Then the clamp the probe to the hose they provided.

We have one and have been using it for the last week. It works well but it has some issues with leakage. We were contacted by NuArbor and they told us they are working on the problem and will make it right. The leaking comes from the top of the probe and only mainly happens when the probe is laying down in the bed of the truck. We knew about the problem when we first got it and thought it was just something that we would have to deal with. Overall I like this much better than the old Kiortz probes. NuArbor just needs to work out the bugs.

And yes, the probe should fit on any backpack sprayer as long as you can buy only the probe.

I got this tool and used it for the 1st time yesterday. My biggest problem with it was calibration. I could not get it to consistently output 1/4 oz like it is suppose to. NU arbor is sending me a new unit, but I am wondering if others have this problem? I am wondering if it is because gravity in not providing enough pressure to keep a consistent flow to the probe and the unit needs re-primed often?

The old kioritz was right on the money when calibrated, but the nu arbor seemed to disperse uneven amounts with each pump and would periodically shoot nothing but air and need pumped at the tank to continue (which messes up counting/calibration). If this issue gets solved, it will be a useful tool and Nu Arbor said it sounds like I may have a flawed unit.

The advantage over the kioritz is it holds more product, disadvantage is it's hard to measure dbh etc with the probe in your hand and calibration issues that will hopefully be resolved.

Its nice for treating trees on a campus or other large property (probably not in the woods because the tank and hose would be a pain for bushwhacking), and I may eventually use it to fertilize small shrubbery where my big fert rig isn't needed.

It seems to be made with high quality components.

Any other feedback on this tool would be appreciated.

We have the same problem and we are on our second probe. We get consistent amounts put out with each pump but it is not 1/4 oz. You also have to be careful to push the plunger with the same amount of force each time. It's definitely not as accurate as the old Kioritz but it's all we have. I guess we have to adapt to go to basal drenching.

How often do you pump/add pressure to the tank? I called nu arbor and they said that once the system is primed, you shouldnt have to pump more pressure, but I suspect otherwise? Please explain how you figured out a system that works?

I bought this tool for doing large scale treatment jobs where I use to use the kioritz. For example, treating dozens of hemlock trees using dino or imi. I could calibrate the kioritz to put out nearly perfect amounts / each tank full.

Is this tool not going to give this type of performance?

Why did they quit making the kioritz, $%&#!

I totally agree with your last statement.

You can over pump it and it will change the amount of product that comes out. We usually pump it 4 times to get it at the pressure we want it at..... However that can vary depending on how full the tank is and how many trees you have done. We mainly use it for one or two trees per property and then it sits while we travel or do something else. We found the best way to get a feeling for it was to pump water through it into a graduated cylinder and keep doing that until your measurements are consistent. My partner uses it much more than I do so I will check with him to see if he has any pointers. Definitely not a perfect tool but it might be the best we have for now.
